Do you live in Germany's spectacular capital and are already dreading the wet and rainy fall in summer? Don't panic, living in the big city means there's never a dull moment. There is so much to see in Berlin that you don't have to worry about the weather. If you're not a tourist, classic trips to the Brandenburg Gate may be out of the question. Nevertheless, even as a true Berliner, you have plenty of options for getting through the fall. Here are the 10 best things to do in Berlin in the fall.

1. Go mushroom picking - the Grunewald forest is the perfect place

Grunewald is the perfect spot for mushroom picking. Round off your autumn with a tour through the colorful trees, feel the moss under your feet and keep an eye out for porcini and chanterelles. Picking mushrooms is both relaxing and adventurous. And if you find a few beautiful specimens, take them with you and turn them into a delicious mushroom dish at home. This experience lets you enjoy the fall on all levels. But be careful! Check your find carefully. If you're not sure, don't eat them.

If you're looking for a unique experience that can only be found in Berlin, then this is for you. What's more, there are two of them in Berlin that differ in their styles.

The Boros Collection is an outdoor bunker with contemporary art on three floors. The owner's apartment is located above the bunker, but it is not open to the public!

The second place is the Feuerle Collection: a walk outside of time and space in a place that is half temple, half bunker, with Khmer sculptures of goddesses from the 10th century perfectly aligned in a play of light and shadow. A synaesthetic experience!

3. Fly your kite on the Teufelsberg

The autumn wind on the Teufelsberg is the perfect place to fly your kite. The view from there is impressive - you look out over Berlin and suddenly feel limitless. A simple but profound leisure activity shows you where you stand again. Don't forget your thermos flask of tea. The fall winds up there can be pretty chilly, so something warm from the inside will help.

4. Visit one of 175 museums in Berlin

Berlin offers an incredible selection of museums. Whether art or history, technology or photography, there is something for every taste. Autumn is ideal for indoor culture. Learn about ancient cultures or enjoy modern art at the Hamburger Bahnhof. You can stroll through exhibitions in peace without sweating and without crowds. Especially when it's raining outside, a day at the museum is a highlight.

5. The Wildpark is also great fun in the fall

In the wildlife park you can also see wild animals and experience the atmosphere in the fall. Herds of deer in the mist, roe deer in the undergrowth or wild boars in action. The park offers you plenty of space to take a deep breath surrounded by animals. You can stay longer and observe in peace. Pack some bread and maybe a thermos flask of coffee and turn it into a little forest picnic.

6. Pay a visit to the Müggelturm tower

The Müggelturm tower in Köpenicker Forst is one of the most beautiful autumnal highlights. You can climb the tower in just a few minutes and enjoy a magnificent view over Berlin and the Spreewald. In October, you can see the play of colors in the forest for miles around. Afterwards, you can stop off at the inn and fortify yourself with regional cuisine. That's a real fall feeling.

If you're not in the mood for restaurants, take a few snacks with you. On a calm and rain-free fall afternoon, a picnic with a view of Berlin is a cool way to relax.

7. Relax at Liquidrom

The Liquidrom invites you to a relaxing wellness experience in the middle of Berlin. You can float in the warm brine under soft light and music in the water. This reduces stress and has a meditative effect. Afterwards, you can add a sauna or massage to the all-round package. Ideal for focusing on your body and relaxation when the weather outside is soaking wet.

8. Visit Berlin Zoo and its aquarium

You can make big eyes at the zoo even in fall. Animals show themselves differently in the golden light and the spooky atmosphere suits the autumn. The neighboring aquarium is even more exciting. Puffin fish and jellyfish are a meditation for the eyes. When the wind whistles outside, it's a Zen experience inside. And if it does rain, you'll find a retreat with a wow effect.

Tip: Check the opening hours, which may differ from summer in the fall!

9. Go for an afternoon at the movies with your friends in autumn

If you really need some time off, you can arrange to go to the movies with good people. Pick an arthouse or independent movie. With popcorn, hot drinks and good company, you'll have a great afternoon.

In Berlin, there are no fewer than 91 cinemas in every conceivable style. Check out whether you prefer it nostalgic or hip, modern and with the option to put your feet up.

10. Visit the PeePees cat café for velvet paw love

The PeePees cat café is a real insider tip. It is located in Neukölln and is Berlin's first cat café. The two velvet paws Pelle and Caruso live there in a cozy atmosphere. You can order coffee or tea for free and chill out with the cats at the same time. The café is lovingly decorated and has delicious cakes from the tray. On quiet weekdays, you have a good chance of spending more time cuddling with the residents. An ideal place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and just drink tea and purr.

As you can see, Berlin doesn't have to be boring in the fall either. There is always something to see and if you don't know what to do, pay a visit to Tempelhof Airport. The park is cool even when it rains. As we all know, there's no such thing as the wrong weather, just the wrong clothes.
